Frequently Asked Questions

How do I prepare for my session?

Dress comfortably (in layers if necessary)! You will wear a cape during the session so if you are warm, wear a light layer. Come as you are - without make-up, if possible or be prepared to use a makeup wipe to remove it prior to draping.

Please no strong perfume/fragrances, colored contact lenses, and no fake tanning products. If you have had a spray tan within the past week please wait to come in (recent sun exposure is fine).

If you wear glasses, you will be asked to remove them periodically during the analysis, so clear contact lenses may be a better option if you have them.

Gray hair? Colored hair? No problem!

In order to correctly perform the analysis, any colored or highlighted hair will be covered with a neutral gray cap. We will remove it at the end for photos though! If desired, we can even visit after the analysis about natural hair colors that fall in your season.

Natural gray hair is just that - natural! No need to cover your hair for the analysis.

Can I bring children, a significant other, family, or friends?

Unless the child is receiving their own personal analysis, I strongly recommend you leave little ones at home. If your older child is interested in observing they are welcome to join you, but remember this is YOUR time! Relax and enjoy it! The process of discovery is fun and exciting, so if your friend, significant other, Aunt, Mother or anyone near and dear to you wants to see what it’s all about, I invite them to join you as an observer.

Can I take photos or video during the session?

I have a strict no video policy during the color analysis process and photos are by permission only. Due to Intellectual Property rights, the drapes I use and process of the analysis are protected from media use. We will have the opportunity at the end of the session to capture a beautiful portrait or candid photo! Please feel free to snap a “before” picture - the comparison is priceless!

I have already had my colors analyzed. Will the results be different?

This depends on what method was used for your analysis! If you had your colors analyzed using the traditional four season system (which only categorizes people as either entirely warm/yellow or cool/blue undertone), chances are you will be draped differently under the 12 tone system that I utilize. Recognizing that 2/3 of people actually have neutral undertones (a mix of cool and warm to different degrees), this scientific system is much more reliable and provable, than that of the four season approach.

Similarly, if you have had a virtual/digital color analysis, it is unlikely that you have been correctly analyzed. Digital images are unreliable and computer monitor calibration varies widely, especially when it comes to accurate color representation.

I invite you to experience the True Colour International 12 tone color analysis to learn more about the process and see the results yourself!

Will my colors change over time?

Personal Color Analysis is discovering color harmony for you based on your own personal tone, and as such does not change over time. It truly is an investment that will last a lifetime.

Why does a group session take less time per person?

Group appointments include the same information covered in a single session, but since we cover the educational portion at the beginning of the appointment as a group, we save that time per person! Each client will experience the full color analysis draping session. Group sessions also offer an extra advantage: you get to see the process from two completely different vantage points - as the client and as the observer! You will notice that you see things differently each time.

Can I reschedule?

Life happens - I get it! I kindly ask that you contact me 48 hours prior to your session to reschedule.
